For the adventurous, there is great high country mountaineering and rock climbing, old mining roads that are great for mountain biking, and miles of wilderness to explore.

Hiking and Photography

The lodge is nestled in the midst of the John Muir wilderness, which provides easy access for hiking. Trails for all levels of hikers lead off into trees, lakes, meadows and streams. Gorgeous wildflower displays, brilliant fall colors and spectacular views of granite peaks provide memories for a lifetime. Maps and information for the backcountry are available at the resort. Don’t forget your camera!

Horseback Trips & Rides

Pack stations in the canyon offer day rides and fully outfitted, overnight pack trips. Come see the high country in a more traditional fashion, riding your way in on the back of a horse.

Trout Fishing

Crystal clear water cascades down the canyon amongst the lodgepole pine and aspen trees providing excellent stream fishing right outside your cabin! At the head of the canyon is South Lake offering fishermen the chance to hook the largest of trout, the elusive brown or an Alpers rainbow. Backcountry lakes are spectacular to enjoy and easy to hike to. Drop by for tackle, bait and information on where to catch your stringer of beautiful trout!
