Bishop Creek South Fork
The creek is running at perfect levels right now and we have been seeing lots of fish come out. Salmon Eggs and Nightcrawlers remain the best baits. Alpers and the DFW have been stocking some big fish in the creek. Several have come in with Powerbait being the best bait.
South Lake
The water level is still pretty low and the boats have now been removed for summer. The water level is pretty disheartening but shore fishing remains good for those who are willing to take the hike to the water. Getting to the back of the lake is key for nice fish. Nightcrawlers are great as well as Kastmasters or Thomas Buoyants.
Lake Sabrina
The boats are pulled for summer but the cafe and store are still open on the weekends only. Fishing is OK and you can drive back and get closer to the water than at South Lake. Powerbait and Nightcrawlers are working well.
North Lake and Intake 2
Both lakes are pretty full and the fishing has been good. The stocking has concentrated on these two bodies of water as well as the creeks. Powerbait working well along with Powerworms. Had several nice fish come from North Lake while using Sierra Slammers.
Fall Colors
We are starting to see just a hint of yellowing on some of the vegetation. It is several weeks early. With the rain we had a couple of weeks ago this should be a great year for fall colors. It is still probably over a month away before some nice coloring comes out. I will keep you posted.
The cafe at Bishop Creek Lodge is still on the summer hours and Sammy’s specials are getting better and more creative each week. This week we are working with some Salmon and even having Lobster Mac & Cheese. Tina is still baking her fresh pies for dessert.
